The mission of Spokane Heart Rescue is to increase the rate of survival from Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) within Spokane County by increasing rates of bystander CPR, through direct involvement of the community.
The need for community members to be involved is based on the following facts:
- CPR is essential in order to maximize the victim’s chance of survival
- If CPR is not provided to a SCA victim within a few minutes they will likely die despite any advanced care delivered at a further time.
- No advanced therapy is more important than CPR. Waiting for help to arrive will decrease the chances of survival.
- Train 10,000 citizens in Spokane County how to perform Compression Only CPR within the first year.
